PCU Plus opens new Lifestyle Store

PCU Plus opens new Lifestyle Store at Eastern Main Road, Barataria

Just in time for Christmas, PCU Plus (Furniture & Appliances) Limited will unveil its new Lifestyle Showroom and online shopping portal.

The PCU Plus Limited Lifestyle Showroom, located at the Trinidad and Tobago Police Credit Union Flagship Building, 33-35 Eastern Main Road, Barataria, will bring to the heart of San Juan a range of modern furnishings, stylish décor, electronics, and appliances, from both premium and affordable home brands. The showroom’s grand opening at 8 am on Wednesday 30th November, will include giveaways and live parang performances. The opening will be followed by the launch of an online shopping portal www.shoppcuplus.com in December.

As a retailer with its roots in the credit union sector, PCU Plus Limited is guided by co-operative principles, which means the company’s focus is on providing quality goods and an affordable alternative to hire-purchase, while contributing to national sustainability by investing in local suppliers and manufacturers.

This strategy has helped the brand to grow, and its new showroom and retail centre is meant to extend the retailer’s footprint while creating an immersive and shareable experience for customers. It will be the largest of the company’s three branches, which includes locations at 17-19 Irving Street, San Fernando and Mt Marie Road, Scarborough, Tobago. A fourth showroom is scheduled to open at 13-15 Green Street, Arima, in January.

Describing PCU Plus Limited as one of Trinidad and Tobago’s best kept secrets, Police Credit Union’s Manager Consumer Division, Antoinette Matthews, said the company is excited to expand its footprint in the retail sector to give customers more choice and value for money. “Over the past 40 years we have built a loyal customer base within the credit union sector, and with our new Lifestyle Showroom in the heart of Barataria, we look forward to exposing PCU Plus Limited to non-credit union members who want to beautify their home with the best, without breaking the bank,” Matthews said.

About Us

Since its establishment in 1982 as the Consumer Division of Police Credit Union, PCU Plus (Furniture and Appliances) Limited has focused on delivering quality home furnishings, electronics, tools, and gift items at affordable prices.

The idea for Police Credit Union to establish a retail store was championed by police officers Esmond King and Benjamin Watson who identified that many of their colleagues could not access hire purchase due to Police Ordinance Chapter 11, No. 1, which stated that officers could not be sued for any debts incurred. PCU Plus Limited created an avenue for persons who were underserved by traditional retailers to access quality home furnishings and appliances at affordable terms. Forty years later, the company has expanded its reach beyond credit union members to serve a wide customer base.
